A few days ago one of my friends at work told me about an offer on Quidco which seemed too good to be true! The betting site Paddy Power are currently promoting an offer where if you deposit £10 into your sportsbook account you get a £10 free bet and also £25 worth of cashback through Quidco. If you know what you are betting on then there is a possibility to make even more money back. If you loose though it has not cost you anything as you will still be £15 up just for trying.

Give it a go and see what you think, sign up to quidco here

Over the last weekend I have been working hard setting up another blog with energy saving advice tips. It will be fresh in everyone’s that climate change is happening and rapidly, wholesale energy costs are rising and generally living is getting more expensive.

This was one of the reasons for setting up my energy saving advice blog, to help people save energy and make them more aware of how to be green and environmentally friendly. The site covers everything from house hold appliances to saving fuel while driving.

There seems to be some progress in Milton Keynes with the Openreach FTTC rollout. I have just seen some engineers working on the cabinet at the bottom of Vincent Avenue, Crownhill and a few moments after that I saw some Openreach surveyors measuring the distance from the curb to the telephone cabinet in Heelands near the Suffolk Punch pub.

When I get some more information I will update this blog. I am hoping to have a word with some of the engineers when possible to see when Milton Keynes is “actually” supposed to go live on the new FTTC service.

Watch this space.

In this day and age browsing the internet can be a risky business. There are more and more geo-ip and location based services than ever before. Even using a geo-ip lookup tool people can get a rough idea where you may be located sometimes right down to the city level!

Obviously keeping your details safe and secure in the digital age is of paramount importance. More and more people are turning to using anonymous vpn providers to keep their details safe.

By using an Anonymous VPN your public IP address assigned by your ISP is hidden from view and your new IP address assigned by the anonymous vpn provider is shown.

Don’t be caught out! Get using an anonymous vpn today!

In the last few months I have noticed a lot of BT Openreach vans about the town, it looks like they have been laying fiber cables for BT’s next generation access (fast fiber broadband). If you live in Milton Keynes and currently have broadband I am sure you will be nearly as excited as I am in getting the new FTTC based broadband.

Originally the go live date was supposed to be 30th September 2010 but this now seems to be 31st December 2010. This does make sense as I had not yet seen any FTTC cabinets installed until today!

On my way to work I noticed a building contractor van parked in some bushes along with some Openreach engineers. Upon closer inspection it looks as though Openreach have installed a FTTC cabinet next to the existing phone cabinet.

Obviously this is good news as it would appear BT are making progress in Milton Keynes with their FTTC roll out. I guess it will only be a matter of time until Openreach install more and more cabinets.

When I get a chance I will try and get a picture of the new cabinet for all of you geeks and broadband lovers out there.

I was listening to Radio 1 yesterday while having a bit of a tidy up and this tune came on the radio. I have to say it is one of my favourites at the moment. There is such a good vibe about this and the visuals on this video are out of this world. Check it out!

Considering I used to work at the LEGO shop in Milton Keynes shopping center and I also have a background in electronics, I find anything that combines the two together absolutely fascinating. While browsing about on the web I just so happened to come across a printer that someone has made with LEGO and what looks like some custom printed circuit boards.

Words are really hard to explain this so here is the YouTube video of the printer in action.

On the way to Willen Lake with Simon Henry the other day I noticed this bright green pulsating creature crawling across the road, it was not far away from meeting a dramatic death from a passing car or bike. Luckily my self and Simon both had our cameras on us at the time so seized the opportunity to take some photos of this magnificent creature.

Thanks goes to Simon for finding out what variety of caterpillar this was

This is the best photo I got of the pulsating critter it was taken using auto focus and the full auto mode on my Canon EOS 400D, click the picture for a larger view.

For sometime now I havPython Logoe been programming in a variety of different languages such as Perl, PHP, Java, Tcl, recently I have had the urge for some reason to learn the Python programming language. From the research I have done so far I have discovered that Python is the main language of choice for Google and also the YouTube video site.

The book I am reading to teach me about Python is “O’Reilly Leaning Python Fourth Edition” compared to when I taught my self Java using the “Sams Teach Yourself Java in 21 Days” book I find the O’Reilly one quite bland and boring there are not many examples. The O’Reilly book seems to focus more on the Syntax of the language and I get the impression the book is aimed at near absolute beginners. Hopefully over the next few days I will start to learn some useful functions and find out a bit more about the language its self.

I will keep you all updated on my progress here.

I was out on my push bike the other day with my good friend Simon Henry taking photos. The opertunity for a HDR photo of the second lake was ideal as the sun was setting and made a very orange sky.

The result is the photo you see below, dont forget to click the photo for a larger view. I do still have the RAW shots and the resulting tiff of the HDR photo if anyone wishes to make a contribution I would be willing to release this. Just leave a comment and I will get back to you.
